Dick Roberts, 74, of Yarmouth, died at 1:45 AM Monday, July 12, 2010, at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.

Born August 4, 1935, in Macomb, IL, he was the son of Merle and Vera Downey Roberts. On June 30, 1956, he married Janet Dean at the First Christian Church in Carthage, IL.

Dick worked at Bilt-Rite Cabinets for five years, Keystone for three years, and owned and operated Roberts Building & Remodeling for 10 years. He then worked at Mason Hanger from where he retired in 1997. He moved from Illinois to rural Mediapolis in 1965.
He served in the U.S. Army with the 237 Engineers from 1958 to1960.
He was of the Christian faith. He enjoyed fishing, camping, and boating.

Survivors include his wife, Janet; three daughters, Joanna Roberts of Mount Pleasant, Carrie (Bruce) Clubb and Sheril (Brian) Boyle, both of Burlington; seven grandchildren, Christopher (Cyndthia) Schrader, Holli Schrader, C.J. Goff, Justin Clubb, Amanda Clubb, Brandon Boyle, and Shalena Boyle; five great-grandchildren, Christian, Kayden, Mason, Traesyn, and Detayvion; two brothers, Bob Roberts of Macomb, IL, and Gerry Roberts of Carthage, IL; one sister, Luan Griffin of Warsaw, IL; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.

Visitation will be from 8:00 AM until 1:30 PM with the family to receive friends from 12:30 PM until 1:30 PM Wednesday, July 14, 2010 at Hass-Thielen Funeral Home.
The funeral service for Mr. Roberts will be 1:30 PM Wednesday, July 14, 2010, at Hass-Thielen Funeral Home with Reverend Tom Smith officiating. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A time of food and fellowship will be held at Hass-Thielen Community Room following the interment.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
