Eunice Marie Miles, 86, of West Burlington, formerly of Franklin Park, IL, died at 8:30 AM Sunday, July 4, 2010, at her home.

Born August 28, 1923, in Chicago, IL, she was the daughter of Frederick and Frances O. Hertel Gropp. On February 16, 1946, she married William F. Miles in Chicago, IL.

She was a 1938 graduate of Carl Schurz High School. Eunice was a homemaker. She had also worked as an operator at Illinois Bell Telephone Company and as a secretary at Cord Specialty Company.
She was a member of Mount Calvary Lutheran Church Missouri Synod in Franklin Park, IL, and Concordia Lutheran Church Missouri Synod in Burlington. She loved to garden and tend to her flowers. She also loved to square dance and attended many national conventions with her husband.

Survivors include her husband, William F. Miles; two sons, Fred C. (Susan) Miles of Berwyn, IL, and Bill Miles of Phoenix, AZ; one daughter, Dr. Frances (Patrick) Jackson of Burlington; six grandchildren, Matthew Miles, Bailea Jackson, Wade Jackson, Erin Jackson, Abigail Jackson, and Katie Jackson; one great-granddaughter, Hailey Miles; and several nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will be from noon until 7:00 PM with the family to receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at Hass-Thielen Funeral Home.
The funeral service for Mrs. Miles will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, July 7, 2010, at Hass-Thielen Funeral Home with Pastor Chris Roepke officiating. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A time of food and fellowship will be held at the Hass-Thielen Community Room following the interment.
A memorial has been established for Great River Hospice.
